Further Letter to Cllr Boad | Changing the Eligibility Criteria for Financial Hardship

Cllr Boad,

I have called the Office for the Deputy Prime Minister today regarding changing eligibility for financial hardship. While on the phone I was informed that there are no government rules stating that local authorities cannot change their eligibility criteria to allow people in financial need to go on the housing waiting list and be allocated a reasonable points score.

Obviously, precedence should rightly be given to those people who are homeless. On this basis, can I ask that the criteria be changed to allow people with financial problems to eligible for the list? I will be approaching my local councillors to lobby them for their support on this matter.

I thank you for all your efforts and hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Paul Bell
