Housing Update | Warwick District

I have been in contact with Warwickshire County Council's Planning and Transport department today and was told about the following documents which I have read:

1. Supplementary Planning Document: Managing Housing Supply
2. Supplementary Planning Document: Managing Housing Supply - Background Documents
3. Supporting Policy Documents

The Shocking Facts

(a) Number of Dwellings for Warwick District: 8000 from 1996 to 2011
(b) Dwellings completed 1996 to 2004: 6,115 (need to check with WDC how many have been affordable).
(c) Remaining dwellings to be provided: 2004-2011 is 1885
(d) However, there has to be a reduction due to Regional Planning Guidance for the West Midlands (RPG11) to reduce the level of in-migration. This means that RPG11 2004 to 2007 reduction is -57 and 2007 to 2011 is -588.
(e) The remaining dwellings is 1,240 which is not enough.

However, the policy has some flexibility over key policy objectives like affordable housing.

3,058 Dwellings Committed at 2004 with planning permission
305 Dwellings Lapsed post 2004
1,416-1,494 Allowance for Urban Windfalls
71 Allowance for Rural Windfalls

Total: 4,318 Added to 6115 already built = 10,433 houses

Indeed there are 3,058 dwellings with planning permission (source: Housing Monitoring Report 2004). Also 305 lapsed post 2004.
