Dear Sir,
I am writing in response to your article, Developer in appeal over homes plan, Courier 9th September.
It is no coincidence that Crest Nicholson are pursuing this planning with vigour, as they stand to make a small fortune out of the development. While many local people and others languish for years on the housing waiting list – that is if they can get on it, executives from Crest Nicholson make sure they are providing no affordable housing on this site by only building 24 units and not 25. Incredibly, if one more housing unit was built, then forty percent of the site would be affordable. This would make a real dent in the numbers of people living in a bedsit, struggling to pay large private rents or those who just need a little help to gain a roof over their head.
So you see Crest Nicholson, I have no sympathy for your plight, just as you have none for the many men, women and children who could be housed if only you were not so concerned with maximising your profits.
Paul Bell
