Freedom of speech is dying in Europe. Across the continent, Muslim and Christian groups demonstrate and condemn others, while any criticism of their own religion results in violent protests from the ill educated and gullible, whose entire life is governed by their religion and not their humanity.
Certain British government ministers are also queuing up to place the final nail in the coffin of free speech, by condemning the press whom have offended or been "disrespectful" to Muslims. How "disrespectful" was the secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain, when he condemned gay people for being full of disease and harmful to society? I did not hear the same minister comment then about being disrespectful. Is that because of a large Muslim population in his constituency?
Well it appears that the religious are hiding in wait, to ambush anything that attacks their authority to shape society into the backward, medieval civilisation of old. Religion brings mockery upon itself, because it is itself farcical. How else can you describe the pathetic over-reaction to a cartoon depicting Mohammed in a Danish newspaper? Just as it is the right of the religious to enjoy freedom of religion, it is the right of society to have an opposing view that may cause offence. Anything else leads to dictatorship and freedom of speech forever cast down six feet under, along with the redundant ballot boxes.
Long live Denmark.
