In response to Miss Kemp’s letter in last week’s Courier, about the sale of Newbold Terrace, I am again appalled by the incompetence of Orbit Housing Association. It may interest them to know that there are currently 2809 people on the housing waiting list. Do they think it is acceptable to reduce the housing supply further by selling off valuable housing units because they use the excuse of expensive maintenance? What have they been doing all this time? Well Orbit this is again unacceptable, coming closely after the proposed sale of properties on Brook Street, Warwick stating the same pitiful excuse. When will you learn that your sole purpose is to provide affordable housing and not to sell off valuable assets when there are 2809 people waiting for a secure roof over their head’s? Surely I do not need to tell you that you need to budget for maintenance of properties to lesson the future cost of expensive repairs. This is neglect and shows either your desire to sell off properties which will become “luxury” or “exclusive” to maximise your returns or just sheer business incompetence. What will you sell next?
